Do world-class ICT events still exist?
Is there such a thing as a world-class ICT (Information and Communications Technology) event anymore?
The aim of this paper is to look at the key innovation drivers launched or deployed at the MWC that may become trendsetters over the next couple of years.
With the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) and the GSMA MWC (Mobile World Congress) now behind us, it feels something is missing in the ICT industry.
Over the last few years we have seen the death of some major events and the birth of a multitude of small, specialised events. Every buzzword in the industry has its own dedicated event. But we do wonder about the true return on investment (ROI) for each of them… after all, the ICT industry is not that big and we are all competing for the same customers and partners, who we are pretty certain, not spending their time attending events.
Having said that, there are still a couple of Yearly Rendez-Vous industry events, one of them being the MWC.
The 2016 edition was big in size and in the amount of delegates, but was it a true breakthrough in terms of technology and key innovations?
