MCI UK Wins C&IT Award
MCI UK is delighted to have been announced the winner of the Best Association Congress Award at the inaugural C&IT Awards for the second year in a row. The event, held at the Natural History Museum in London on Thursday 27 September, saw MCI pick up the award in recognition of the success of the 27th International Conference of Alzheimer’s Disease International that was held at Excel London in London in March 2012. 1679 delegates attended the congress including high-profile speakers such as Terry Pratchett, Fiona Phillips and Ray Winstone.
But it was the way MCI really put the ‘community’ at the heart of the conference that made the event stand out. As Excel is such a large venue and with many attendees suffering from dementia, a robust and clear signage plan was designed and all venue and security staff were briefed on what action to take if someone with dementia became disorientated or upset. New features included ADI 2012 TV featuring daily TV show, which was shown throughout the venue and on a dedicated TV channel in some of the conference hotels while a Facebook page was set up to further boost the sense of community and has attracted over 1,000 friends.
This is the second award for the MCI UK PCO team and it was won against some tough competition. You can take a look and all the evenings’ winners here.
