MCI's Asia Pacific Conference Expert Now Based in Australia

Director Association Relations Asia Pacific, Stephan Wurzinger has relocated from MCI’s Singapore regional hub to Sydney in a move that will see Australia hosting significantly more Asia Pacific and international association conferences.

As a 20 year veteran of the conference industry in Europe, Middle East, South Africa, Canada and Asia, Stephan actively coordinates 28 of the most prominent medical associations in the region, and with MCI’s Shanghai based Business Intelligence Unit, he tracks more than 258 Asia Pacific based associations that hold conferences of more than 500 pax.

Stephan also represents MCI’s global client base, many of whom have an interest in meeting in Australia including World Cardiology 2014 and other key medical specialities such as digestive health, nutrition, rheumatology, diabetes, dermatology and cardiovascular diseases.

Stephan said he wants to help lift the quality benchmarks for PCO service in the Asia Pacific and is very confident MCI, as Australia’s most awarded meeting and event management agency, is well placed to do it.

“MCI Australia’s advanced Event Design© and quality ISO management systems are extremely comprehensive and are being implemented throughout the Asia Pacific to ensure conferences see consistent delivery, and importantly, growth in delegate numbers and sponsor revenue,” Stephan said.

“MCI has delegate acquisition (research and telesales) units in the Middle East, India and China to help Australian conferences tap into this rapidly expanding market, often yielding as much as a 20% increase in delegate numbers.”

“As the only global PCO agency in Australia—MCI is able to connect Australian associations with regional or international interests, to 9 other MCI offices in the Asia Pacific and 33 other offices worldwide.”

Stephan explains that the response he has received from the industry during his first weeks in Australia has been extremely positive. 

“Many association leaders are looking for a PCO partner that is not only logistically superb, but one that can also offer unique solutions to help them maximise the long-term revenue potential of their congress.”

Stephan raises the question: “Why limit ‘the learning moment of the year’ for your members to only 3-4 days, when the learning and participation can be easily and profitably extended by another 4-6 months?”
