Michele Jerome joined MCI USA (formerly Coulter) as a senior associate in 2006 and served as deputy executive director for the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and executive director for NAWBO's Institute for Entrepreneurial Development until 2008—when she agreed to lead the company’s US operations team. Jerome currently serves as senior vice president of enterprise operations where she is responsible for building and managing effective and streamlined systems, including financial, accounting, information technology, human resources, and physical infrastructure.

Prior to joining MCI USA, Jerome served as the executive director of the Foundation for Community Association Research, vice president of Community Association Institute's (CAI) education department, and multiple positions with the American Medical Student Association (AMSA)/AMSA Foundation. She has facilitated a number of workshops on financial management, governance, research and educational program design and has authored articles that have appeared in national and regional publications.

Over her career, Jerome has guided dozens of technology migrations between association management systems as well as accounting platforms. She has wound down the infrastructure of multiple stand-alone associations to enable them to focus on their core mission.

Jerome received her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Oswego and her graduate degree from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She also obtained the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) in January 2002. An active member of ASAE, she is currently serving a second term on ASAE’s Finance and Business Operations Council. She has also served on the CAE Advisory Council, served as faculty for ASAE's CAE Immersion Course for several years and is a past chair of the CAE Action Team.

She, her husband and their two children reside in Reston, Virginia.

Now, here's the backstory on Michele…

Hometown: Cortland, New York

Three publications I’d recommend for anyone who does what I do: Nonprofit Law Handbook; Put Your Data to Work; and Race for Relevance

If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would go…: On an around the world adventure with as many stops as possible.

First car: 1979 Chevy Nova (a 4-door in a lovely brown that looked like mud)

Superhero power I wish I had: Ability to pause time

Television show or movie most resembles my current life: Seinfeld – we have a lot of fun doing nothing.

App I can’t live without: Amazon – how did I get by before one-click shopping?!

Favorite guilty pleasure: Watching silly reality TV shows like The X Factor and Wipeout.

What I do on my “free” time: My “me” time is usually spent one of two ways—working out or relaxing with a good book and a glass of wine.

If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would go…: On an around the world adventure with as many stops as possible.

Advice I would give my “younger self”: Parenting is hard! Travel as often and as far as you can before you have any.

How my life has changed since I joined MCI USA: Both my professional skill set and my family have expanded greatly since 2006. I now have two kids (a daughter and a son) and I learn from my colleagues daily.

At the end of the day…: I hope there will be another day.
