Benjamin Rochet

Procurement Manager

How did you end up at MCI?

My manager at the previous company I was working for was trying to help me grow internally but could not offer me a suitable position. She heard about an opportunity at MCI and introduced me to the management at MCI Amsterdam, as she thought it would be a great career move and perfect challenge for me. The weirdest but also the nicest thing she could do!

Which word best describes MCI for you and why?

Coolest thing that ever happened to you simply because you work at MCI

In the past 6 years that I have been working at MCI, I was able to attend fantastic events, either organised by our teams, or being invited by our suppliers and was able to visit incredible places. I am a “hotel freak” and bearing the MCI flower allowed me to see hotels I would never have seen otherwise.

What makes you proud about working at MCI?

Being part of this continuously growing machine that adapts and changes constantly, without losing track of what it is actually supposed to do. MCI has obviously been growing immensely worldwide, but from a personal point of view, it is the local growth in Amsterdam that translates this metaphor into a concrete example,

Most exciting/defining moment since you join MCI?

2013, our second year of hotel operations, and already the busiest ever. After only one year of “learning” how to run our department with only 1 event, we had to face the challenge of dealing with 7 events, from 500 to 18000 participants each, while increasing our team members from 4 to 17! A great success and the most stressful time of my life…

What excites you most about your future with MCI?

Even though my job is to look constantly into the far future (3 to 5 years ahead), I have no idea what to expect tomorrow from MCI. The company is growing so fast  that the only guarantee for the present  is that beautiful new challenges and opportunities will keep on coming our way.
