Office: MCI Vancouver
Job Title: Project Manager
How did you end up at MCI?
In a very roundabout way! MCI Vancouver was formed like many other MCI offices; through acquisition. I was working for a local DMC in Vancouver that was acquired by MCI. At the same time, a local PCO was also acquired and both were merged together. The funny thing is, I used to work for the acquired PCO so when it was announced and we officially moved in together to form MCI Vancouver, I was back working with some of my ex-colleagues. I almost got my old desk back! Funny how things work out.
Which word best describes MCI for you and why?
Evolving. It’s one of the things I like about working at MCI. It’s a company that is ever evolving. I like the fact we are changing and adapting based on our climate and client needs. It’s not a static environment which keeps things exciting!
Coolest thing that ever happened to you simply because you work at MCI
I love to travel and because I work at MCI, I have been fortunate enough to travel and see parts of the world that I haven’t gotten around to seeing yet.
What kind of skills does the team need?
There are many skills that make a team work. A mix of skills is ideal so the team is balanced overall. I group skills like technical, writing, creativity as hard skills which I would expect most people in our roles would have at some level. The skills that make a difference are what I call soft skills like listening, flexibility and patience.
