MCI expands business in Brazil
MCI Brazil to double in size in 2015 through acquisitions of Acqua Consultoria and AB eventos and partnership with Futura Networks
Geneva, 10 February 2015. MCI Brazil today announced the exciting acquisitions of Acqua Consultoria, a leading player in infrastructure, environment and energy sector events, and AB Eventos, a specialist in medical science events.
The company also launched a partnership with the Futura Networks’ Campus Party initiative, which promotes innovation and responsible participation in digital culture through educational forums.
“These latest acquisitions are part of our ambitious growth plan for Brazil and the wider Latin American region,” said Sebastien Tondeur, CEO of MCI Group. “MCI Brazil, our joint-venture with Grupo Alatur JTB, has recorded impressive growth in recent years - growing over 125% in 2014 through organic growth and the acquisition of JZ Congressos – and looks set to double in size again in 2015, with acquisition events projected to generate more than BRL 120 million (approximately USD 46 million) in turnover.”
The acquisitions also add a new MCI office in Porto Alegre, which joins existing offices in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo and reinforces the company’s capacity to offer its unique solutions to organisations across Brazil and Latin America.
“The team from Acqua Consultoria brings unparalleled insights into three key Brazilian industries and their needs in terms of audience engagement and experience management, while AB Eventos’ in-depth industry focus will help drive our expansion into healthcare events,” said Juliano Lissoni, Managing Director of MCI Brazil. “Thanks to MCI’s global footprint and specialist brands, both companies and their existing clients will now have access to state-of-the-art event management tools, unparalleled digital and AV solutions and global buying-power.”
Through the partnership with Futura Networks, MCI will now be responsible for the organisation of all Campus Party events, the country’s leading event for developers of all ages, starting with Campus Recife in July. The aim of the partnership is to grow Campus Party throughout Brazil and bring Campus Party to countries not yet explored by Futura Networks.
“The Campus Party partnership represents our focus on expansion in Brazil and worldwide, as well as our commitment to continually diversifying our business and reaching new and growing audiences,” said Lissoni.
“For Campus Party, this is a great opportunity to partner with a respected international company in order to grow the business in Brazil and abroad,” said Paco Ragageles, President and Founder of Campus Party.
MCI Brazil’s leading position, commitment to personalised services and focus on sustainability, technology and return on investment, the three main pillars for the event industry, provide strong foundations for future growth and the continued enhancement of relationships with clients.
