TYPE: Event | DESTINATION: The Hague, The Netherlands | ATTENDEES: 1800+
The One Young World summit is an annual event bringing the brightest young leaders together from all over the globe and empowering them to make lasting connections and create positive change. The delegates are joined by national companies, NGOs, universities, other forward-thinking organisations and some of the most well known world leaders in change to debate and share innovative solutions for the pressing issues the world faces.
At the very first meeting, the client said ‘Please be prepared for a musical without rehearsals’. Thus, the project team rolled their sleeves further up.
Building an experience. Building the OYW brand.
For the 2018 edition of the One Young World (OYW) Summit, MCI The Netherlands provided full event management services to facilitate an environment that fostered connections and knowledge exchange. Seeing as the summit was held in The Hague, The Netherlands, the local knowledge of the dedicated project team was invaluable in offering the right insights and expertise to make the most of the event. As a result, 30% of the event budget was saved on audio-visual due to the project team’s key negotiation skills. The OYW team was supported throughout the event planning and delivery process, from the first site visit to the execution of the show. And with the added bonus of the project team being well acquainted with the World Forum due to previous experience. Operational excellence and an eye for detail brought the brand experience of the OYW summit one step forward: a better exhibition area was built, consistent branding was implemented into every detail (i.e. banners, posters, flags, mainstage backdrop and badges) and a unique side stage experience was designed on behalf of Shell.
Self-scan kiosks facilitated a smooth on-site registration process for over 1,700 young leaders and delegates, arriving in The Hague from over 190 countries. Enthused and motivated, they kicked-off the 4-day experience, which included the main event at the World Forum and a wide range of side events in several locations throughout the city, for which the transport was organised and coordinated. Further support and guidance was provided by over 240 trained volunteers.
Inspirational talks in the fields of education, human rights, environment, health and poverty alleviation were held on the main stage, with the team supervising and coordinating the show and our supplier network putting in place the AV effects, show calling and moderation.
